PACE winter session kicks off today

The winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) starts today in Strasbourg, France.
 
The session will last until January 26. On the first day of the session, PACE President, Vice Presidents and Human Rights Commissioner will be elected.
 
Within the framework of the session dedicated to "Conflicts and their humanitarian consequences", conflicts in Europe, the difficulties faced by people who suffer from these conflicts, the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe, the role of PACE and other related organizations in the struggle against Islamophobia and xenophobia will be discussed.
 
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is expected to address the PACE winter session on January 24.
 
Azerbaijani delegation member Vusal Huseynov will also discuss a report on the subject "Strengthening international regulations against trade in goods used for torture and the death penalty” on the last day of the session – January 26.
