One detained in Azerbaijan’s Balakan over attempt to sell about 500 kg of meat of unknown origin

A resident of Azerbaijan’s Balakan district has been detained by employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime over an attempt to sell about 500 kilograms of meat of unknown origin.

 

The investigation revealed that the detainee, named Fakhraddin Hamzatov, slaughtered sick horses he bought in Balakan and adjacent districts, and tried to organize the sale of the horsemeat in the city of Baku under the guise of cattle meat.

 

Samples taken from the carcasses of the slaughtered horses were sent to a laboratory study. According to the expert opinion, the meat was found unfit for consumption and is a serious danger to human health.

 

The materials collected on the mentioned fact were sent to the Investigation Department of Main Department for the adoption of a procedural decision.
