Erdogan: Afrin operation continues successfully

The operation against PYD and YPG terrorists in Syria’s Afrin continues successfully, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, the Turkish media reported Jan. 22.

Erdogan noted that Turkey was forced to start an operation in the Syrian city of Afrin, as it is about the security of the country’s borders.

Meanwhile, he said that Turkey intends to complete the operation in Afrin in a short period of time.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces jointly with the Free Syrian Army launched the Operation Olive Branch in the Syrian city of Afrin.

 

Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said it is estimated that about 8-10,000 PYD and YPG terrorists are deployed in Afrin.

F-16 jet fighters of Turkish Armed Forces, which are inflicting air strikes on PYD positions on the Syrian-Turkish border, are involved in the operation.
