The unresolved Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains a major obstacle to security and economic development, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said.

He made the remarks addressing the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), "Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development” in Baku April 5.

Mammadyarov emphasized that the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia continues for more than 20 years.

"The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories, but, unfortunately, these resolutions have not been fulfilled so far,” he said.

The Non-Aligned Movement also recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan and supports the settlement of the conflict with Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, Mammadyarov added.

The top diplomat stressed that the status quo in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will never be accepted.
