Azerbaijan’s helicopter involved in efforts to put out forest fires in Georgia

Along with two Georgia’s helicopters, a helicopter of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations is involved efforts to extinguish forest fires that broke out in Georgia on Aug. 20.

 

Two helicopters from Turkey are expected to join the fire-fighting efforts today.

 

A special headquarters created in connection with the fires said that there is no need to evacuate people living near the disaster zone.

 

Nearly 250 firefighters are involved in extinguishing the fires. However, strong wind prevents the operations.

 

Upon the order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Ministry of Emergency Situations sent a helicopter to Georgia on Aug. 21 to help extinguish forest fires that broke out in the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.
