The incident took place in Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad district on the border with Iran.
The wounded border guard, Ramazan Krupov, was hospitalized and underwent surgery.
The condition of the serviceman is not life-threatening but is assessed as critical.
The incident is under investigation.
