Azerbaijan launches manhunt for two suspects in Ganja events

Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service have issued a joint statement on the Ganja events.

 

On July 10, a group of religious radicals attempted to disrupt the public order in the city of Ganja. Two police officers were killed as a result of an attack by a group of religious radicals using blunt objects, reads the statement.

 

In a course of the decisive measures taken, the public order in Ganja was restored, on the whole, stability and security are reliable protected in the republic, the statement says.

 

As a result of the investigative measures taken, two Ganja citizens – Rashad Boyukkishiyev (born in 1988), who was previously convicted for murder and robbery, and Farrukh Gasimov (born in 1988) were identified as suspects. A manhunt is underway for the suspects, says the statement.
